CT BJJ: Triangles
Our Tuesday night BJJ Fundamentals class focused on the Triangle Choke from the Guard. The Triangle choke is one of the strongest chokes in bjj because you use your legs which are the strongest muscles in your body. in this class we worked 2 entries into the choke and then spent the class working on several details to make the choke as tight as possible.
In bjj the tighter we can make a choke the harder it is to escape. With the Triangle choke the squeeze to finish the choke comes from angle changes and the position of our legs, not from simply squeezing our legs as hard as we can. This idea of making techniques work by changing angles rather than using strength is something that can be said for every good technique in bjj.
