BJJ CT Team Training: The Closed Guard

Last night at Crossroads BJJ in New London CT County we spent some time in our Team Training class understanding how to break the posture. In Jiu-Jitsu the top player having strong posture makes attacking sweeps and submissions very difficult and leaves the top player ins position where they are able to attempt to pass the guard. In Jiu-Jitsu we are always looking to improve our position and since it is a better position for us if the top players posture is broken we look to attack posture first.

In this class we discussed 5 potential ways the posture can be broken in Jiu-Jitsu and then discussed two potential submissions based on how they fall. In this particular bjj class we discussed options based on in they put their arm above or below your shoulder and attacked either an armbar or a choke.
