Jiu-Jitsu CT: Consistent effort over time

The only way to earn a black in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu or any martial art is consistent effort over time. The main benifit of having a consistent schedule on the mat is it allows you to have something you are working on over several weeks or even months of training. Jiu-Jitsu is a martial art which relies heavily on problem solving, which is why several of our students are engineers at Electric Boat.

When you first begin using any Jiu-Jitsu technique with resistance more often then not the bjj technique will fail, in order to make the Jiu-Jitsu technique work you must observe what your bjj training partner is doing to stop your technique and then modify your technique to stop what they are doing to shut down your technique. The better you get at Jiu-Jitsu the more Jiu-Jitsu problems you have solved. Solving these problems over and over again allows you to  solve problems that you have never encountered before in real time. Solving a particular problem may take several weeks of training making it essential to be on the mat to find the answer.
