Brazilian Jiu-jitsu for Fitness
When people think of martial artists they envision people who are in amazing shape capable of performing things they would only dream of doing. Martial artists like Bruce Lee, and UFC fighters are in phenomenal shape, it is one of the things that they are known for. A common saying among martial artists is “there is no shape like fight shape”. But those famous martial artists and fighters weren’t born with that level of fitness, they all had a first day at the gym too.
At Crossroads Brazilian Jiu-jitsu our class structure is designed to increase your fitness level over time at your pace. Our BJJ instructional class starts off with some light stretching before we begin practicing technique. While practicing technique you will continue to stretch and use muscles that you may have not used in years. Towards the end of the instructional Class you will have the opportunity to drill the techniques with whatever resistance level you feel comfortable. Over time as your begin to see improvements in your cardiovascular endurance and as the techniques gradually increase your strength and flexibility you may ask your training partner to increase his resistance in order to get a more challenging workout. Through this proccess you will increase your fitness level in a safe and fun way, and before you know it you will be in “fight shape”
