Crossroads Brazilian Jiu-jitsu is proud to have had its 3 year anniversary this past September. Over the last year we have grown significantly. In the past year Crossroads Brazilian Jiu-jitsu has moved into its own dedicated training facility with roughly 700 square feet of mats, a sitting area for parents and guests and a separate changing area for students to prepare for class. We have also upgraded our mats and our gym is now using Zebra Grappling mats and Zebra wall mats. These mats are the same as those used in International Competitions and ensure our students the safest training available (check out www.zebra.com for more info).
This last year Crossroads BJJ has also introduced several new classes to our schedule including a Fundaments/Self Defense class. This Fundamentals class goes over all the most common scenarios in which a self defense situation would occur. Our BJJ fundamentals class teaches you how to deal with a head-lock, what to do if somebody grabs you from behind, and much more. It has been proven that 95% of fights end up on the ground, but 100% of fights start standing so being able to defend yourself when caught off guard is crucial to being able to defend yourself in any situation.
Crossroads BJJ has also added a No-GI Submission Grappling class to its schedule, giving its students a chance to train without the kimono and make the necessary adjustments to become proficient with and without the GI. Our Tuesday No-Gi class has become one of Crossroads BJJ’s most popular classes giving everybody a great workout.
Our No-Gi and Advanced Jiu-jitsu students have continued to do very well over the last year on the local tournament scene with almost every student who has competed coming home with a medal. It is for this reason that Crossroads Brazilian Jiu-jitsu has registered with the IBJJF in order to give Crossroads BJJ students more opportunities to compete throughout the year. Over the last year not only has Crossroads BJJ attracted more students, we have also seen several promotions to Blue belt as well as a promotion to purple belt. Our talent pool continues to deepen and I am very excited to see where we will be a year from now.
If you’re reading this post and you haven’t been down to Crossroads Brazilian Jiu-jitsu to check out a class: stop waiting and come down to train with us. Whatever your training goals may be, you will not be disappointed.
