Today in our Brazilian Jiu-jitsu class we continued covering how to maintain back control. Back control is the most dominate position to have in a self defense situation, an mama fight, or a jiu-jitsu tournament. Because your training partner can’t see you and has a very limited number of escapes we can easily control their movements if we understand where to apply pressure we can shut down escape attempts.
Coach Doug went over where you should be placing your arms and legs to have the most options for both controlling your opponent or training partner but also giving yourself submission options as well. A good submission attempt will force your training partner to stop trying to escape and start trying to defend your submission.
