Today in our kids class we continued working with the kids on foot sweeps. A foot sweep is a very effective way to move a self defense or bullying situation from standing to the ground where a smaller child can control and protect him or herself. The kids then did some live rolling drills with Coach Jeremy. By working and training directly with the coaches at Crossroads Brazilian Jiu-jItsu we can help new students get used to the idea of grappling and practice the techniques against a real person who is helping them do the techniques properly and also keeping them safe while they are learning to do the techniques when somebody is resisting them.
One the things that separates Brazilian Jiu-jitsu from other martial arts is training against somebody who doesn’t want you to perform the technique on them. At Crossroads BJJ we start that in a safe way in our kids program. If your child has to deal with a bully the confidence he or she will have knowing that they have already successfully performed the techniques in class hundreds of times is unparalleled.
