Today we in our No-Gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu class we began studying leg locks. Starting simply with the four most common ways to attack the ankles and knees. Since your legs are almost half of your body not knowing leg locks buts you at a serious disadvantage, and even if you yourself don’t want to be a “Leg Lock Guy” your going to need to know how to defend your legs if you are going to be successful in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu
Today we simply covered the different types of leg locks, the straight ankle lock, the toe hold, the heel hook and the straight kneebar. By understanding these 4 submissions, the angles we need to keep our body to be able to finish the technique, as well as the angles our training partner needs to achieve in order to be able to escape, we can begin to understand how to chain attacks as well as move between control positions on the legs to control positions on the body.
