Today in our Crossroads BJJ Fundamentals class we discussed how to move from the bottom of Guard to our training partners back using a technique called the arm drag. In this particular class we performed this Jiu-Jitsu technique from the butterfly guard. The butterfly guard relies on using your legs to off balance and control the bjj player in the top position and is primarily know as a sweeping guard but also is a great position to perform drags.
The second technique we discussed was how to pass the butterfly guard. Since bjj is all about position before submission, if you wish to submit your training partner you must first pass their guard. By controlling the bottom players hips and legs you can begin to work a number of very strong passes.
