In BJJ where you put your weight matters, it effects the not only the way your training partner can move put also their level of comfort. In last nights team Training class at Crossroads BJJ we continued our study of the over under pass with our focus being weight distribution. By placing our weight properly we can create a sense of urgency for the person on bottom and create a situation where they want us to pass their guard.
We covered three separate options to make neutralizing the legs our objective rather than rushing to side control. In the Guard the bottom players legs are huge tools, and what allow a BJJ practitioner the ability to fight off there back. By making sure we stop the bottom players legs we make it much easier to get from the guard to side control.
