Monday Mornings 6AM Jiu-Jitsu class was all about arm-bars from side control. In Jiu-Jitsu the side control position offers you a very stable position where the bottom bjj player has only a few low percentage techniques to submit you where you the top Jiu-Jitsu player have a number of very high percentage techniques. At Crossroads BJJ in CT we cover all of the need-to-know arm-bars in our Fundamentals Curriculum. In this class we focused on the far-side armbar.
While the 6AM Jiu-Jitsu class at Crossroads BJJ in CT is a group class we make sure each and every student in the class walks away understanding the techniques we are covering so that the next time we drill a particular technique they remember what they learned and can continue adding details to the move and thereby increasing their depth of knowledge. The additional benefit of covering a technique in multiple classes is that you continue to improve your muscle memory. To be able to perform a Jiu-Jitsu technique in a high stress situation like a tournament or on the street you must repeat that technique countless times. We finished the class with several rounds of drilling and sparring to make sure that everybody who came down to the gym got a good workout and to work on perfecting using our Jiu-Jitsu techniques under pressure.
