Last night at Crossroads BJJ in CT we covered the other option to get the fight to the ground, pulling guard. Fighting for the takedown can be physically exhausting and if your are competing in a Jiu-Jitsu tournament where you don’t feel like you have a greater level of skill in the stand up portion of the match pulling guard can be the most effective and efficient way to put yourself in a position where you can secure a submission. In Jiu-Jitsu having multiple option is never a bad thing, so having a few different ways of getting the fight to the ground is only going to improve your over all effectiveness.
On the ground Coach Cooke continued taking everybody through the leg lock game that helped him dominate during his last Reality Fighting grappling match at Mohegan Sun in CT. The leg lock game is a very powerful tool that can provide you with several submissions as well as set ups to sweeps and guard passes. Our goal at Crossroads bjj is to provide all of our students with a full set of skills including the Jiu-Jitsu you will need to defend yourself in the streets as well as the bjj you need to be successful at the highest levels of competition. Every student starts in our fundamentals program and then over time progresses into our intermediate technique classes and for those of our students who are interested in competing our competition classes. If you are interested in learning bjj just click on the getting started tab, fill out the form and one of our staff members will be happy to answer any questions you might have about learning Jiu-Jitsu in Connecticut!
