Our 6am Jiu-Jitsu class is growing! After just a few months of offering this new bjj class in CT students are already setting thier alarm clocks early to wake up and get some martial arts training in before they head off to work! Our 6am crew is a group of people truely dedicated to achieving success on the mats which will always overflow into every area of your life. The great thing about crossroads bjj and training martial arts in general is that you surround yourself with goal oriented people who are focused on success and when you see those people around you achieving thier goals it motivates and inspires your to work harder to achieve your own.
In this mornings Jiu-Jitsu class we worked on finishing the Kimora from guard. The Kimora is a very powerful submission named after a famous judo practitioner who defeated Helio Gracie using the shoulder lock from the top position. This submission is so versatile that it can be caught from multiple submission which makes knowing it a must. After giving the initial details on the Jiu-Jitsu submission we covered a number options for dealing with defenses to the submission including transitioning to the Omoplata. Good Jiu-Jitsu means being able to switch to a more suitable submission when your training partner has a good defense. If one way isn’t working we try something else until we are able to break through our Jiu-Jitsu training partners defense.
