Last night at Crossroads BJJ another amazing kid-Jitsu class went down! Every kids martial arts class at Crossroads BJJ contains 3 different elements, physical fitness, stand up grappling and ground grappling. Our goal at Crossroads is to create a well rounded class that helps every member of the class gain confidence, coordination, discipline and most importantly the ability to experience the ability to set and achieve goals.
Every Kids class at Crossroads BJJ starts with helping our students become more physically fit, working on balance, cardio, and strength. What is also amazing to see is how these physical exersizes also teach positive mental qualities, working on balance promotes focus, while drilling techniques that promote cardiovascular endurance promotes persistence. Focus and persistence are two qualities needed to achieve any goal, so by instilling these qualities in your child from an early age sets them up for success.
The second part of class teaches stand up grappling, which can be used for both Jiu-Jitsu competitions if that is something that interests your child or used to protect themselves against against a bully at school. The main strategy of bjj is that we get our opponent to the ground where a smaller weaker person can control and protect themselves against a much larger person.
The third portion of class teaches our students where they are safe and if they are not safe how to get to a position where they are safe. Besides Jiu-Jitsu technique this portion teach our students how to work well with others. Because Jiu-Jitsu requires you to work directly with other students cooperating with others is essential to learning and achieving your goals, just like in life.
