Today during the Brazilian Jiu-jitsu class at Crossroads BJJ we continued with our theme of escaping the headlock. While Brazilian Jiu-jitsu practitioners will not try to headlock you wether they are in class training or in a tournament because you can’t finish a fight from the position and once you know how to escape it is very easy. After a review of covering escaping the headlock when you are on top of your training partner we then drilled how to escape the headlock if you are rolled over and put on the bottom. With a simple hip movement you can easily shift your training partners weight and end up back on top.
Once we escaped the headlock position we worked to the triple attack position. Similar to the gift wrap position we worked on during Wednesdays class, only stepping over into the Mount position. From here we worked on how to control the position to tap out our partner with an Arm-lock or improve our position by taking the back control. Back control is the best position in BJJ since your opponent can’t hit you while you can apply a rear naked choke hold.
