If your a fan of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) then you may be familiar with a position called the guard. The guard is a position that was invented in the martial art of judo and refined further in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu where ground fighting makes up a majority of the techniques you learn based on the simple fact that in a street fight 75% of altercations end up on the ground.
This week in our Gi classes we are wrapping up our unit on the X-Guard coving another entry, as well as 3 submissions and just a few more sweeps! The goal of this unit was to provide a solid introduction to the X-Guard, providing all of the students at Crossroads BJJ multiple enties into the position and an array of sweeps and submissions!
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is alway evolving, new techniques are always being developed so one of the main goals of Crossroads Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is to give our students the understanding of modern Jiu-Jitsu while providing strong basics that are simple enough to use in even the most stressful situations.
If you are interested in learning Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and live in the Groton, New London area, come down and watch or try a class. Learn the skills that could save your life while learning the art that will change your life!
